Robot Garden Hackerspace, a resource for EV builders

Postby DanielC » Wed Nov 07, 2012 11:59 am

Robot Garden will be the first hackerspace open to the community in the Tri-Valley (Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin) part of the East San Francisco Bay Area. We plan to make available all the tools makers have come to love such as 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, sewing equipment, soldering irons and oscilloscopes. Members can work on all manner of technology, EVs and art projects.

Our space is big enough to drive a car in to and we are partnering with the i-GATE Incubator http://www.igateihub.org which has a strong green technology and electric vehicle mission. There is a lot of overlap between robotics and EVs (motors, control systems, batteries, etc.) so we plan to make many of the appropriate tools available to members. If there is sufficient demand, we will add EV specific resources like engine lifts, ramps, jacks, 240V and 480V power, etc.

This Monday, we're having a kickoff meeting for anyone interested in using a hackerspace in the Tri-Valley area and we'd love to have more people there to find out what resources would be most valuable. More info and RSVP via http://www.meetup.com/Robot-Garden/events/89360052/
